File A Tax Extension 2020
Tax Day Is Fast Approaching
FILE AN EXTENSION
The deadline to file and pay your 2019 taxes was extended from April 15th to July 15th, 2020. Business and individual income tax returns must be filed by that date to avoid IRS penalties and interest. If you need more time to file your tax return, you must complete an application for automatic extension of time. To do this you must file Form 4868 by the filing deadline.
Don’t Delay
The time to file your state and federal tax return is nearly here. The IRS has made it clear they will not extend the deadline beyond July 15Th, 2020. If you need more time collecting the pertinent documents and completing other tax preparation tasks you can simply request an extension through October 15th.
Filing A Tax Extension in 2020
This can be done for free through the IRS free file by navigating to the correct area of their website and following the directions to filling out the correct form. You will be required to have enough information about your finances available to make the best estimation you can of your tax liability for 2019 in order for you to pay your taxes to avoid interest and penalties imposed by the IRS.
Remember
Filing an extension gives you more time to file your tax return, not more time to pay the taxes you may owe. You must complete your tax payment by July 15th, 2020 to avoid IRS consequences.
